What’s happening at Manus, in plain terms
On August 11, Manus announced its separation from Meta after regulators ordered the $2B acquisition unwound. For affected users, that means:
NOW UNTIL AUG 22, 7:59 PM EDT
Backup window. Affected users can export their data with Manus’s backup tool. After this, anything not backed up is gone.
AUG 23-24
Deletion. Tasks, generated files, and connector authorizations created since December 29, 2025 are permanently deleted for affected accounts. Accounts created after that date are deleted entirely. Manus is inaccessible in affected regions.
AUG 25
Manus reopens with a restoration portal. Restoring is manual, from your own backup files.
UNRESOLVED
Manus never named which jurisdictions are affected. The only way to know is your in-app notice. Ownership of the company is still being settled.

Will I lose my data or workflows on Manus?
If your account is affected, yes - on August 23-24 Manus permanently deletes tasks, generated files, and connector authorizations created since December 29, 2025, and fully deletes accounts created after that date. Back up with Manus’s tool before August 22, 7:59 PM EDT. Your backup is also everything you need to start on xpander.
Is Manus shutting down?
No. Manus says service resumes August 25 for everyone, with a restoration portal for affected users. What’s happening is a one-time deletion of affected users’ data as part of the Meta separation, with company ownership still being settled. Whether you keep building there is your call - we think the comparison above makes the case either way.
What exactly gets deleted on August 23?
For affected accounts: task data, everything Manus generated for you (sites, slides, files), and your connector authorizations - all of it created on or after December 29, 2025. Affected jurisdictions were never named; your in-app notice is the only confirmation.
Can xpander import my Manus backup?
There’s no import button, and you don’t need one. Give the backup to Omni and ask it to add the contents to its memory and files. Your prompts, documents, and research become working context immediately.
